The Hastings Public Library Makerspace is a technology and work space available to the public for *free. Makerspace users must be 14 years or older unless accompanied by an adult over the age of 18. Below are the technologies available in the Makerspace and the pricing for materials. We are so excited for you to use our brand new space and look forward to seeing your creations in Instagram.

Muse Laser Cutter will cut and etch wood, etch glass, cut leather, cut paper. All materials from outside the library must be cleared by Makerspace staff.
Supported File types: .jpg, .png, .svg, .pdf
Taz 6 3D printer by Lulzbot.
Available printing area of 11 in. by 11 in. by 9.8 in.
Supported file types: .stl and .obj;
Cost for printing is based on software estimate prior to printing the item. $.5 a gram for items printed to be paid before printing begins.
Items left in the Makerspace more than 30 days are subject to resale.
Presonus 12 channel Sound board with 4 microphones. Capable of plugging into speakers or USB to a computer for audio capture.
Green Screen with digital camera for photo and video production. Computers in the Makerspace have software for post production work.
A Bernina 560 Sewing machine with embroidery hoop attachment. Users must bring their own thread and fabric. The library will supply thread in the bobbin in white, cream or black (depending on availability)
Bernina machines read a .exp for embroidery files. Machine comes with three different fonts and a small number of embroidery files. Patterns may be bought online from websites like Etsy.com or images can be converted using SewArt (available on a design computer in the Makerspace)
Bernina L 450 Serger/Overlock machine. Users must bring thread for the Serger’s sewing needles (two spools). The Library will provide thread for the loopers in cream or gray.
The Library Makerspace is always seeking to update and add new technologies, but we can’t do that without your help. The Makerspace is fundraising for a dual-head extruder for our 3D printer, allowing us to print two colors of filament at once.
