Story Trails

A Story Trail is an innovative and interactive way for readers of all ages to enjoy the outdoors and a story all at once. Our Story Trails are made up of wooden panels created in the PIXLab. Each panel is engraved with the story using the laser cutter, and then a colorful picture depicting the story is heat pressed into the wood. The panels are lacquered to help protect against rain and sun and set up along the path using shepherd’s hooks and zip ties.

In connection with our Summer Reading Program theme, Tales for Tails, our Story Trails this summer are two of Aesop’s Fables. The Fox and the Crow is located at Prairie Loft; The Lion and the Mouse is at the Highland Park Arboretum near the Children’s Memorial Garden. Below are simple maps of each place showing where each Story Trail is placed.

Story Trails are a great way to encourage healthy activity and build an interest in reading for young children. Take a walk and share a story today!
